AVoid was born out of a fascination with solitude, contradictions, alienation and the impact of rapidly developing society in the face of digitalisation. Addressing the deviation of a lone being into a fragmentation of inner cohesiveness. A volatile plunge into the alterations of selfhood.

Biography

Marina Cherry grew up in Montana, USA. Having studied at the École Nationale de Cirque in Montreal, then ESAC in Brussels, she specializes in contortion and acro-dance. She also holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of London.

Her research-based approach to creation and performing places her at the crossroads of dance, contemporary circus and physical theater. She uses her body as the tool of manipulation and method for redefining traditional constructs and deconstructing techniques to find her own language.

After Only Bones v.I.6 (2020) and AVoid, she is working on her third creation Les Carottes sont Cuites premiering in spring 2027. She is as well part of Belgian companies Les Argonautes and Petri Dish.
