Cyr wheel

Two performers, two Cyr wheels, two different styles: Jef is pacifist and indecisive, Marica is confident and confrontational. Guided by their contrasts, the two acrobats weave a poetic and physical dialogue where conflict and complicity converge. In Difference is a journey towards a gradual break with the the Cyr wheel’s traditional uses, to the point of bringing it to life.

Biography

Marica Marinoni is an Italian artist specializing in Cyr wheel. She trained at FLIC in Turin and later at CNAC in France, graduating in 2019. She has worked as a performer with Compagnie Scom and with Les Filles du Renard Pâle in Révolte! (2023). She co-wrote Lontano with Juan Ignacio Tula, premiered in March 2022.

Jef Everaert, a Belgian artist, discovered professional circus at the age of 15 and joined the circus highschool in Leuven. He went on to study at FLIC in Turin and then at CNAC in France, completing his training in 2022 with the CNAC show Balestra, directed by Compagnie Rasposo – Marie Molliens.

Marica and Jef first met in 2018, sharing a common fascination for the Cyr wheel. They reconnected in 2022 and began developing their first show as coauthors.
