How long does a moment last? Insomnia draws inspiration from the subjectivity of time and the spaces where it flows at uneven rhythms. In this performance, the rope and the lights design create sensations and imagery of suspense and fragmentation, immersing us in an uncertain, elusive time.

Biography

Jakob Jacobsson is a Swedish-born, Netherlandsbased, aerial rope artist. He stumbled upon circus while working in a jazz bar next to a small theater in his Swedish hometown. Captivated by the immediate connection to the audience offered by the physicality of circus, and its multidisciplinarity, he set out to pursue it on his own.

He traveled through France, England, and the Netherlands, studied at Codarts Circus Arts, and took part in the pilot program of ICCAR to explore the possibilities of aerial rope. He has been selected for the New Horizons Leadership Program, operated by the Baltic Nordic Circus Network. Jakob works with several companies as a circus performer, rigger, and artist. Insomnia is his first creation.
