circusnext in the sector

Discover the networks

circusnext is an active participant in the professional life of the circus sector in France, across Europe and beyond. The association engages in working groups on the conditions of creation and professional practice, is regularly invited to speak at sector events (roundtables, professional encounters), and takes part in international projects.

In the networks

Circostrada

As a member of Circostrada, the European network for circus and street arts led by Artcena, circusnext participates in general assemblies, working groups, and the network's activities.

circusnext is currently involved in the following working groups:

  • SPARK Research Lab on fair working conditions and remuneration in the circus and street arts sectors: since 2025, Sabrina Abiad has joined this group as an expert.

  • Fresh Circus 2027 committee: as a former co-organizer of FRESH 20Y, circusnext participates in this group, which is preparing the network's next major event, to be held in Sweden in February 2027.

Territoires de Cirque

As a member of the network, circusnext participates in general assemblies and acts as a liaison with European partners for the organisation of the Nuit du Cirque.

Since 2025, circusnext has taken a direct role in this event, hosting a Nuit du Cirque gathering in partnership with Espace Périphérique-La Villette in Paris.

FEDEC

FEDEC — international network for professional circus education — is a natural partner for circusnext, with shared missions around training and the professional development of circus artists.

In 2023 and 2024, circusnext was an associate partner and member of the steering committee of the European project SPEAK OUT, led by FEDEC, focused on the prevention of gender-based discrimination and violence in the circus and street arts sectors. The collaboration is ongoing.

European performing arts platforms exchange group

Since 2025, the coordinators of European performing arts platforms meet quarterly to share experiences on supporting emerging artists: Aerowaves (dance), circusnext (circus), IN SITU (art in public spaces), Magic Carpets (storytelling), and Prospero (theatre).

International activities

Global Crossing

Since 2025, circusnext has participated annually in this discovery trip organised by Circostrada, which brings together professionals and artists to explore the circus scene of another region of the world. In 2025, two team members and laureate artist Noa Aubry travelled to Taiwan and Japan.

International exchange projects

From time to time, circusnext builds connections with organisations beyond Europe that work toward the development and recognition of contemporary circus in their countries, through exchange projects that bring together label artists and performers from other continents.

Former circusnext laureates Guillaume Martinet in 2021, and Inbal Ben Haim and Domitille Martin in 2023, travelled respectively to South Korea and Japan to share their practice with local artists.

With the support of the Institut Français, in partnership with Seoul Street Arts Creation Center in South Korea and Setouchi Circus Factory in Japan.
